Traditionally, plastic shopping bags were produced using a mix of LDPE/HDPE/LLDPE. These resins usually are of the virgin category.
Our team conducted some trials and developed PCR shopping bags for Spinneys Group (A leading retail brand in the UAE), committed to improving the sustainability initiatives. The bags help reduce plastic waste. The PCR resins used in producing these shopping bags are certified by Global Recycling Standards. These bags can also be further recycled.
Material reduction in packaging has gained popularity in the past couple of years. To address the sustainability issues in baked goods packaging in supermarkets and hypermarkets, Hotpack has adopted a new packaging concept, which involves kraft paper bases and clear PET lids. The kraft paper base has completely replaced the plastic base of containers. The PET lids enable the display of bakery products in the supermarkets and are 100% recyclable.
Plastic reduction: 20-60 grams per packaging, depending on size.
Our dry-lock PET meat trays offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional foam trays and reduce the need for absorbent soaker pads. The honeycomb-designed base acts as a dry-lock system, effectively retaining moisture, which eliminates the need for additional absorption pads, resulting in a more sustainable meat packaging solution. Moreover, the honeycomb structure enhances the strength of the trays. PET trays are easy to sterilize and resistant to bacteria, ensuring high food safety standards. Recyclability: The use of mono-material PET allows for 100% recyclability.
Through relentless exploration, we’ve pioneered H-rPET (Hotpack modified rPET), seamlessly blending recycled PET with HPET technology. The result is a lightweight, robust, and eco-conscious packaging solution that meets stringent quality and food safety standards. HPET, an innovative food packaging solution by Hotpack, builds upon the sustainability of PET and takes it a step further by significantly reducing package weight without compromising its inherent properties. This achievement is made possible through advanced production processes. Notably, HPET’s mono-material composition ensures compatibility with single-stream recycling systems, allowing for seamless collection and remanufacturing into new PET products, contributing to sustainability and the circular economy.
Bulk pouches for packaging dry products commonly use multiple materials. We, at Hotpack, have developed specifications that are 100% PE. For convenience, there is a reclosable zipper of Velcro type to create a difference.
Product in light: Soft n Cool, wet wipe outer pack
For our brand Soft n Cool, we were required to create a soft touch feel for its premium wet tissues. We have achieved this using substrates that give a pearl finish and our suppliers’ surface coating of velvet lacquer. This unique pack gives you a soft touch feeling; it has a velcro-type zipper for easy opening and reclose & a three-dimensional look.
In addition to meeting the look and feel requirements, we have been able to produce a 100% recyclable pouch by using mono-material in the packaging.
Our sustainability vision highlights our dedication to designing packaging solutions that not only serve their intended purpose but also make a positive impact on our environment.
Our innovative, sustainable packaging solutions are designed to reduce environmental impact while meeting your specific needs. Let’s get your team closer to zero waste
Our journey begins with the use of eco-friendly materials at the heart of our packaging solutions.
Embracing plastics that break down swiftly, significantly reducing landfill waste. Thus supporting a move towards a more sustainable circular economy.
Incorporating post- consumer and post-industrial recycled materials into our packaging. This approach not only lessens our demand for virgin materials but also helps reduce the energy consumption and carbon emissions associated with manufacturing new ones.
Utilizing materials sourced from renewable plant sources , such as corn, rice, husk and sugarcane. Plant-based materials often offer the added benefit of being compostable, contributing to soil health.
As time moves on from the outbreak of COVID-19, sustainability pressure is building once again. Manufacturers and retailers of fast-moving consumer goods continue to innovate new packaging formats to improve circularity, particularly focusing on recycled content such as post-consumer resin.
These innovations come as players seek to deliver on their own sustainability commitments and address consumer expectations, nongovernmental organization voices, and new packaging regulations.
Currently, new regulation governing sustainability dimensions of packaging is expanding on multiple fronts such as proportions of recycling or recycled content and is no longer confined to select countries or regions.
Producing packaging for a product is not a simple task. Many steps along the packaging value chain can potentially bring the process to a grinding halt.
